URLS that include your blog post’s keywords perform better than those that look a bit like /2019/01/08/category/lifestyle/how-to

You can change your URLS in Blogger to a custom configuration, such as /top-seo-tips – or whatever your keyword string is!

Top SEO Tips For Wix

Wix has its very own SEO wizard that it has developed alongside Google allowing you to see your SEO in ‘real-time’.

It suggests you follow that for comprehensive SEO walkthroughs. However here are a couple more tips you could use!

Register a domain

If you haven’t already, Wix gives you the option to register your own domain.

When choosing your domain try to:

  1. Keep it simple and memorable
  2. Include the name of your blog/business
  3. Include a location if your blog is location specific
  4. Include your main keyword if possible!

Make it mobile friendly

Mobile accessibility is key for SEO in 2019 and beyond. Wix templates are already mobile-ready so you don’t have to worry too much about changing anything but our best tips for making a site the most accessible possible are;

  1. Choose a light colour background but not pure white, if possible.
  2. Have a contrasting font, that’s not pure black but dark enough against the back ground.
  3. Ensure the font is big enough to read.
  4. Disable pop ups for mobile.

Add alt-tags

On a Wix Blog:

  1. Open a new or existing post in the Post Editor.
  2. Click an existing image or add a new image.
  3. Enter the text in the Alt Text (optional) field.
  4. Click outside the field to return to the editor.

Top SEO Tips for Squarespace

Squarespace, much like Wix is a, ‘done for you’ in a box type platform which means you don’t have to customise your SEO as much as you do with WordPress (which has its ups and downs).

However, here are some things you can do in Squarespace to help your SEO along.

Install an SSL Certificate

It’s imperative that sites are secure and if you don’t have an SSL cert, your site isn’t.

You get a free SSL cert when purchasing a Squarespace domain but they recommend you head to your SSL panel and make sure it is set to the Secure setting, especially if you registered or connected your domain before 2017.

Add your site description

  1. In the Home Menu, click Marketing, then click SEO.
  2. In the Search Appearance area, click the Home tab.
  3. Edit the SEO Site Description field, then click Save.

Try and describe what your blog is about using the most important keywords you’ve found during your research that will help your blog rank.

We hope this tips have been helpful! What are your SEO struggles if you don’t have WordPress?
